May 28, 2004 - Month 4 photos

May 26, 2004 - Another month passed. Boy, they are flying.  We have had giggles and rolling over and much more sleep this month.

Carter has been to another baseball game.  He still isn’t that excited, but really give it a few months.

Carter gets more shots on Friday at his 4 month check up.  I’ll update this again then with all his vitals.

May 28, 2004: 4 Month Check up visit today.  Carter is 15 pounds, 11 ounces and 25 1/4 inches long.  That puts him in the 75th percentile for his age.  Even his head size is in the 75th percentile. I guess that makes him a well-proportioned little boy.  He was quite cute at our pediatrician’s (Dr. Kelvin Snyder) office.  I think he liked the sound of the paper on the exam table because he was running a little marathon on his back - kicking and swinging his arms and smiling the whole time. (Well, until the shots started). Four shots today, quite a few tears, but fine 5 minutes later. When the Tylenol that they gave him wore off, we gave him one more “hit” as he was just out of sorts and crying.  He is sleeping again now. If it is at all like the last visit, when he wakes up, he will be the little boy we know and love again. He did drink 10 + ounces before this nap.  The previous record was 7 ounces.

The bulk of the doctor visit was about Carter’s rash - eczema - on his chest and the creases of his skin.  We talked about changing his soap to Cetaphil and whether to continue basic treatment (Aquaphor lotion, Cetaphil) or whether to bump up to prescription lotions.  The doc was in favor of just monitoring it and allowing us to do some more research to get educated and talk about it at the 6 month checkup.  Because of the eczema and the propensity for allergies that it tends to indicate, we will hold off on solid food for as long as possible.

He also gave us the OK to allow Carter to sleep on his stomach.  WAAAHHOOO.  David and I have agreed that we will still start Carter on his back or side during the midnight to 4 am shift. If he rolls over, that is fine, but we will start him on the back or side. Doc reminded us again about now loose things in the crib, so we will take the blanket out too.

That’s about it. Still on cloth diapers.  Working pretty well, but we switch to disposables after 11pm to keep him dryer during the longer stretches between changes during the night.
